About This Project

A survey of street children in Delhi, published by Save the Children in April 2011, showed that there are approximately 51,000 children living on the street across the nine districts of Delhi. The majority of these children do not attend school despite favourable changes in the legislative framework with the enforcement of the ‘Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2010’ which guarantees free and compulsory education to all children between 6 and 14.

Anchal under this innovative project aims to reach a total of 2800 street and slum children, aged between 3 and 14 years, deprived of their basic right to education by bringing education to their door steps, progressively eliminating them from labour and integrating them within mainstream education and society.
