The Anchal core group, besides being associated and professionally involved in the specific area of enabling challenged people, shared a common objective of maintaining meticulous records and documentation of case studies. The process of maintaining records, documentation and data analysis threw-up certain ineluctable facts. Challenges faced by professionals in this specialized and priority-area of work evolved from the following lack of concern:

Insensitivity in Indian society surfaces as a major challenge preventing access of social security programmes, benefits and legislation to a majority for whom such programmes and services have been developed.

Ignorance, that the challenged feel, are sensitive to and share the same emotional crises and conflicts as is experienced by any normal human being, serves to deprive them of their ‘Rights’ and, is a priority area requiring attention.

The initial focus area of Anchal intervention and activity was and continues to this day in the areas of individual and community health, hygiene and education, women empowerment with extra focus to differently abled people.

ACT, believes that values like authenticity, vulnerability and related factors may be placed on the table for consideration but, what is important is that whatever they are, everyone in ACT, must live by them, support them, to live by and choose to implement them.
